It's only when i'm not around

I walked with no intention.
Time was all it took to wander through your existence.

Now your memories reveal my world to me.
There is so much I can’t see anymore.

The things I ran away from
somehow found their way back.
Closer than the things I once held on to.

When I think of you now,
I only think of then.

It’s only when you’re not around
that I feel lonely.

So please,
come over to me.

This series was made while walking through Utrecht. I didn’t go out looking for specific photographs. I simply wandered through the city and paid attention to the small moments that appeared along the way.

Many of the images felt as if they were already there, waiting quietly in the streets. Small scenes hidden in plain sight. They only revealed themselves when I happened to walk by and notice them.

The text reflects that feeling of coincidence and presence. Of moving through a place without intention, and slowly realizing that the moments you encounter begin to shape your memory of it.
